Gecko Air Conditioning was founded by Bill Lauenstein specialising in the repair, servicing and replacement of air conditioning systems, home and business. The name Gecko came from the fondness of Geckos in Port Moresby PNG where Bill spent his childhood.

1978

Bill served his 4 year apprenticeship 1978 – 1981 with Mark Horn Air Conditioning Services, where extensive knowledge was gained in maintenance of air conditioning split systems, ducted systems and commercial central plants inclusive of chillers. At the end of Bill’s apprenticeship he gained employment with York Borge Warner, where extensive knowledge was gained in the commercial air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance.

1984

1984 saw the establishment of Bill’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Services, specialising in air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance, originally a sole trader, the business quickly grew to employment of 2 office staff, 6 tradespersons, and 2 apprentices. Maintenance contracts were held with State Works Department, Suncorp Building Society, Royal Brisbane Hospital, Ten Pin Bowling Centres and Printers.

1989

The company diversified into air conditioning installations, inclusive of duct manufacture for home and business design and installation. The early years of the Murarrie commercial development site, buildings were air conditioned by Bill’s Efficiency Air. Staff grew to 4 sheetmetal workers, 10 refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics, 4 apprentices along with a number of sub-contractors.

1990

The trading name was changed to Bill’s Efficiency Air, with the slogan: The difference is ……. knowledge and service. This slogan has been carried forward to Gecko Air Conditioning.

2002

Saw the sale of Bill’s Efficiency Air, as Bill wanted to spend more time with his young family.

2005

In October 2005 Bill was contacted to establish the Air Conditioning Division of Neil T Fallon, now know as Fallon Solutions.

Now

Gecko Air Conditioning offers experienced and reliable service covering all brands. As air conditioning becomes a standard feature of most buildings, knowledgeable AC experts are a valuable resource.
